지기지우란 말이 있듯이 우리 서로가 같이 그림을 그리면서 안지도 십 년이 지났나 봅니다.
우리들이 깊이 안지는 김형 있던 대학에 내가 출강을 나가고부터인가 봅니다. 아마 서로가 현대미술을 감지하는데 매우 유사한 사유를 갖는가 봅니다.
어려운 여건 속에서 조금도 굴하지 않고 작가가 가질 수 있는 지조를 지킨다는 것은 가장 경앙스러운 행동이라 생각됩니다. 예술의 길은 작가의 예술적인 기교에 있는 것이 아니라, 한 시대를 사는 예술가로서 새로운 시대 정신을 구현함에 있다 할 것입니다. 정신의 자존자시(自尊自恃)를 위해서 조그마한 세속적인 타협을 거부하는 집념에 불타는 의지에 찬사를 보냅니다.
