색물을 뽑는 비닐 주머니

‘청년작가연립전’ 개막일, 강국진은 퍼포먼스 <색물을 뿜는 비닐>을 시연했다. 한국 최초의 집단 해프닝 <비닐우산과 촛불이 있는 해프닝>에 대한 연구도 비교적 최근에야 이루어졌지만 ¹ <색물을 뿜는 비닐>이 그보다 사흘 앞서 강국진에 의해 시연되었다는 사실은 아직 깊이 연구되지 못했다.
‘청년작가연립전’ 개막 당일, 천정으로부터 내려오는 원통형 비닐 속에 색 물이 들어있는 비닐튜브가 설치되어 있다. 작가가 막아 놓았던 색 물 비닐튜브의 입구를 열자 색 물이 걷잡을 수 없이 뿜어져 나오면서 서로 섞이고 바닥과 주변에 튄다. 주체(행위자)는 그 행위를 시작할 뿐, 순간적으로 분출되는 색 물들 자신에 의해 진행되는 모든 과정을 통제할 수는 없다. 색 물들은 공간 속에서 유희를 벌이며, 소위 자발적인 ‘3차원적 회화’를 스스로 그리는 셈이다.

Vinyl Tube spouting out watercolor

The day of opening of ‘Chungnyun jakka yeunlipjun’, Vinyl Tube spouting out watercolor was first exposed naked to public by Kang. There have been some studies concerning the first collective happening of Korea ‘Happening with vinyl umbrella and candle light’¹ , but more lightly taken into consideration was Kang’s Vinyl Tube spouting out watercolor shown 3 days earlier.The opening day of ‘Chungnyun jakka yeunlipjun’ saw a pre-installed performance set up, awaiting its moment of unleashing almost uncontrollably its watercolors contained in vinyl tubes. The tubes were coming down from the ceiling, which, once snap-popped, would spatter the colors in all different directions. The performer only makes his move to start off this process-opening the cap. The joyous spontaneous splattering of colors is now a 3-dimensional painting, seemingly untamed.
