In 1990, he began a group named ‘Murwa’ with Sookhee Lee, Yookyung Lee, Jongjin Lee, Saebul Sumgyul and Dongji Lim. But he could only attend the assembly for 2 years. On February 24th, 1992, he was prompted by his worrying difficulty of respiration to visit the National Medical Center. But he passed away so suddenly in the course of treatment on the first day of March. It was seven in the morning. Filled with the remembrance of his reticence and warm heart, the funeral was held on March 3rd in Moran Park in Wolsanri, Hwadoeub, Yangjugun, Kyunggido.

1990년 강국진의 집에서 이숙희, 이유경, 이종진, 숨결 새벌, 임동지와 함께 '무르와' 모임이 시작되었다. 그러나 그가 모임에 참석했던 것은 불과 2년 남짓이었다. 1992년 2월 24일 가끔씩 숨이 차는 것이 걱정이 되어 국립의료원 (메디칼 센터)에서 진료를 받던 그는 갑자기 심근경색을 일으켜 3월 1일 아침 7시에 숨을 거두었다. 돌처럼 과묵하면서도 봄바람처럼 따스한 그의 모습을 주변의 모든 이들의 기억 속에 남긴 채, 그의 유해는 3월 3일 경기도 양주군 화도읍 월산리 모란공원에 묻혔다.
