형의 상관
1973, 골판지, 50x70cm, 제1회 개인전, 명동화랑(1973.9.27-10.1)
1973년 강국진은 ‘형의 상관’이라는 주제로 한지, 흙, 로프, 나무 등 다양한 사물들이 장소 속에서 어떻게 관계하는지를 탐색하는 첫 개인전 (1973.9.27-10.1)을 명동화랑에서 열었다. 바탕의 골판지는 가로로 골이 나 있으며, 그 위에 붙여진 골판지는 세로의 골이다. 두 장의 골판지가 만날 때, 수평과 수직의 선을 지닌 ‘형’이 만나는 상관관계를 맺는다. 아울러 그것은 부조(relief)로서의 ‘사물’로 인식되며 평면적 회화에 대한 전통적인 개념을 뛰어넘고 있다. Interrelation of Forms

In 1973, Kukjin Kang opened his first personal exhibition ‘Interrelation of Forms’ (27 September-1st October) to ponder upon the relations of multifarious materials within a certain spatial realm, using Korean papers, soil, ropes and wood. The corrugated board in the background has a crevice-like line of fold which is gained sideways and another board attached on it has its lineup-down. As these two boards meet, they cast a new formative relationship and recognized as a relief-based objecthood.
