형의 상관

 1973, 하드보드, 한지, 종이노끈, 제1회 개인전, 명동화랑(1973.9.27-10.1)

 

1973년 강국진은 ‘형의 상관’이라는 주제로 첫 개인전 (1973.9.27-10.1)을 명동화랑에서 열었다. 작가는 하드보드 위에 한지를 붙이고, 다시 그 위에 종이노끈을 붙임으로써, 그것이 부조(relief)로서의 ‘사물’로 인식되기를 원한다. 평면적 회화에 대한 전통적인 개념을 뛰어넘는 실험적 작업 중 하나이다. (김미경, 미술사학 박사 / 강남대 교수 / 한국예술연구소KARI 대표)

In 1973, Kukjin Kang held his first personal exhibition ‘Interrelation of Forms’ (27 September-1st October). Kang attached Korean papers onto hardboard and paper strings on top of them, presenting his willingness to regard the traditional notion of flat paintings as a relief platform for transition into ‘objecthood-holding’ concept.
